In my book any day when you are woken up by a Pied
Flycatcher singing outside the bedroom window is a good day and today was
therefore a good day 😊
The bird, a 1st summer male, stayed in
the garden all day and was entering one of the nestboxes. I have had singing
males in the garden a couple of times before but they have always been one day
affairs so it will be interesting if this bird hangs around and tries to
attract a mate.
We are now entering a very exciting time and with
southerly
winds forecast for the next week we could be in for some exciting
times. The only thing that is missing is rain but there is a chance on
Wednesday which may push down some interesting waders or terns. Svellet today was
looking downright bloody marvellous with lots of mud and shallow water and lots
of birds. 300 Greenshank and 200 Wood Sandpipers had Ruff, Dunlin, Redshank and
single Black-tailed Godwit and Spotted Redshank amongst them. Hundreds of
Wigeon and Teal had the company of 6 Pintail and a male Garganey.
Snekkervika provided the most excitement with a couple
of adult Little Gulls and a feeding flock of 20 Ruff with a number of handsome
males.

It wasn't possible to take good photos of today's start birds but you can make out they are Little Gulls (dvergmåke) just about.. |

a pair of displaying Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers (dvergspett). The male was initially drumming almost constantly and then the female appeared calling and fanning her tail which caused the male to do the same and then approach her. I thought the female was inviting a mating but it did not happen whilst I was watching and the male seemed a bit too timid |

it is become less and less often that I see Marsh Tit (løvmeis) |

I discovered this Adder (hogorm) when it hissed at me after I had nearly trodden on it. |
