Back home

Back in Oslo now after an easter spent in the UK. Spring has still to make it here and I have missed very little. As an example of how dire conditions are, the satellite marked Bean Goose that had migrated north from Denmark on 28 March has returned to Denmark! This bird obviously doesn't mind exercise as the map shows it had also attempted to leave Denmark also on 16 March before returning.
Per Christian did though check out the staging site at Udenes Church on the Glomma River on Saturday and located 18 distant Bean Geese including three with neck rings but was unable to read them. It is interesting how even though this sub population of Bean Geese is small and has a distinct wintering ground and migration route that the flock does not migrate together but instead seems to move in small (family?) groups.
