Brick licking Common Crossbills

The brick licking Common Crossbills in Maridalen come quite close if you wait patiently by the church ruins. I've therefore taken rather a lot of photos and video of them and their interesting behaviour. It has also allowed me to use the 60 fps capability of the new camera and then show the video in slow motion which allows you to really see how good the male is with his tongue.
Also notice in the video how a female goes inside a cavity in the wall.

this young male has a long tongue! His age is revealed by the green traces in the plumage and the orange rather than red tones. The pale wing bars are also I believe a juvenile character. Quite when he was born though is not clear to me
