First signs of migration

I had the company of Carlos from Mexico City and Katy from California today. We had incredible weather with blue skies, no wind and a stong sun but still snow on the ground and ice on the water. Ar Kurefjorden the first Greylag Geese (grågås) and a marked increase in Eider (ærfugl) numbers (200) were the first real sign of spring migration. Still at least three Rough-legged Buzzards (fjellvåk) on the islands but unfortunately no other raptors. Most of the inner Kurefjorden is still frozen but it will surely melt in the next week or so and flocks of geese will be first birds that suddenly turn up.
