Tits up

I went for a walk in the forest today to see what the situation was like for drumming woodpeckers. The snow made the going rather tough and I should maybe have chosen skis. There was not much in the way of drumming although I did hear one distant bird. It only drummed very occasionally and seemed to move around. At various times I thought it was a Three-toed, a Great Spot or a Black but could never nail it. One rather obvious explanation is that there was more than one bird/species drumming….

Other than that there was little in the forest except for a few tits up in the canopy.

Crested Tit (toppmeis)

this Goldcrest (fuglekonge) bathed in sunlight seemed very out of place
Treecreepers (trekryper) always walk up the sides or the back of a tree and it is scientifically proven that they NEVER walk up the front, and that most certainly isn't an alternative fact!

  1. Several great spotted woodpeckers were madly drumming away at Lilleøya yesterday. -- Glenn Martin
