Freezing rain

The adjective “freezing” is not often associated with the noun “rain” at least not when I was growing up and hasn’t really been put in use much since I moved to Oslo either. Today however it was definitely the correct grammatical combination. Temperatures have moved from minus to positive and precipitation today has fallen as rain that has landed on frozen ground and created sheet ice. There were constant warnings on the radio about the dangerous driving conditions and a trip to Maridalen had to called off half way round as I realised the risk wasn’t worth taking.

 Birding was therefore rather limited although I did again check out the gulls by the Opera although wil less ice for them to rest on today there were fewer birds and nothing of interest to note down.
