Oslo Birder's oldest offspring, whilst still reliant on her
parents for food and shelter, has made a significant step towards fledging by
learning to ride her bike. To encourage her I suggested a ride around Fornebu
and this met with approval. In nice sunny weather with a southerly breeze we
spent a couple of hours riding around and daddy was able to note a few birds.
Best of all was the infrequently seen but probably
overwintering Short-eared Owl which flew low over us mobbed by Crows and a
Kestrel (one of two present). Also a Stock Dove, Reed Bunting and a couple of
Lesser Redpolls.
