Wryneck

After a days enforced absence from Maridalen I was back early this morning to find that the sunny weather was still making birding tough. Pied Flycatchers are back in force with birds at a number of sites including gardens in town but there was no other large number of migrants to note. But when you see species such as Redstart, Pied Fly, Yellow Wagtail, Whinchat, Redstart, Tree Pipit, Tawny Owl, Black-throated Diver and Wryneck then the day can't be too bad.

Highlight was two Wrynecks singing together in Maridalen although I wasn’t sure if it was a pair of two rival males.

One of the Wrynecks joined a couple of Wheatears (steinskvett) looking for food out in the fields ad looked very out of place. One of the Wheatears is just visible in the bottom of the picture

Three Raven chicks looking like they may be lose to fledging. This is the first time I have actually seen this nest even though I have known the Ravens nest here for many, many years
