| a group of upto 12 Waxwings (sidensvans) would often sit quietly within the foilage of a tree and be incredibly difficuly to see despite being so colourful |

| waxy wings - the red on the wings are waxy appendages. This bird is a male due to the broadness of the yellow and white edges to the flight feathers |

| Willow Warbler (løvsanger). The second half of September is late for this species but we have always seen surprisingly many on Værøy. They have often had very shabby plumage and abnormal calls suggesting sick birds but this one looked, sounded and acted like a healthy bird |
