At breakfast my youngest three
times said she had seen a flock of birds out of the window. I didn’t see the
first flock, the second was some gulls and the third was 100 Pink-footed Geese
(kortnebbgås) heading north. I therefore had a feeling that there was some
movement today but a report of 2600 Pink-footed Geese on Maridalsvannet early
this morning was quite astonishing.
My birding was limited to an hour
in the rain late afternoon and there were hundreds of thrushes on the fields in
Maridalen including one Ring Ouzel (ringtrost) but not the big flocks of geese
or ducks I hoped for with just 60 odd Pink-feet resting on the lake. The times
they are exciting though!
