Great Snipe video

With not much real live birding on my part at the moment I have time to edit my Oppland and Hedmark videos. This time a video of lekking Great Snipes (dobbeltbekkasin). This species has a real stronghold in Norway and occurs around the treeline where there are marshy areas for feeding and dryer areas with low scrub for lek sites. The sound the males make is a unique sound and it is quite magical to be on a mountainside hearing these birds in the middle of a spring night. There is also a lot of running around like rodents, jumping and flying from place to place.
All in all, an experience I would recommend all birders to have at least once.
