The docks

The big birding news in Norway today was a Snowy Owl (snøugle) near Stavanger. For a species that breeds in Northern Norway, albeit not annually, it is surprisingly rare in Southern Norway (it would't surprise me if it is commoner in the UK than here).
For those of us in Oslo there was little of interest to be seen. My birding today was limited to a quick trip to the docks. Goldeneyes (kvinand) were out in force with at least 600 birds and there was quite a bit of display amongst them. Also 90 Tufted Duck (toppand) and a single Little Grebe (dvergdykker) but surprisingly nothing else (I even checked out the male Goldeneyes looking for a rarer cousin...).
Blue Tits are now singing in the garden and I'm sure it won't be long before Wood Pigeons (ringdue) start popping up followed by Skylarks (sanglerke) and Starlings (stær).
Little Grebe with a pair of Tufted Ducks. When spooked the ducks flew but the grebe preferred to run across the water
