Here's hoping

Messages ticked in throughout the day of interesting seabirds with especially good numbers of skuas being seen. I didn’t have the opportunity to get out today but hope that tomorrow will be equally good. The winds are forecast to be equally strong until mid morning tomorrow and some heavy showers are forecast up until 8am which should hopefully help things.
I did manage some incidental birding in Frognerparken which is Oslos largest and most popular park with a couple of ornamental ponds where people can feed the ducks. Here there were two Guillemots (lomvi) with one even following the Mallards (stokkand) who were taking bread. Also 14 Tufted Duck is a sign that autumn migration has started and two juvenile and two adult Moorhens are a sign of successful breeding here this summer which make it the fourth site in Oslo for this species.
On Thursday I am heading off to Værøy in the Lofoten islands for some vagrant hunting. There are already birders up there and they have reported multiple Yellow-browed Warblers (gulbrynsanger) and the adjacent island of Røst  has already produced Pechora Pipit (tundrapiplerke), Olive-backed Pipit (sibirpiplerke) and Citrine Wagtail (sitronerle). The weather forecast isn’t so favourable during the week but on Saturday it looks like the winds will swing to the east so I will hopefully be able to fill my boots!
